Hello to all my Luscious girls! I hope you're all doing well. I'm very excited about new products that we are adding to the Luscious range this year. I love reading all your posts and feedback on our Facebook page, and it really inspires me to keep creating new products for all of you to enjoy. I'd like to introduce the brand new Glamoreyes Palette which is a compact filled with 7 shades of eyeliner with a mini liner brush. The Glamoreyes palette comes in 2 versions: Metallic and Intense.
Each shade in the palette can be used as an eyeliner or as a cream eyeshadow. The formula is silky and longlasting. If you have very oily skin, I recommend using a tiny bit of concealer or pressed powder on your lids before applying cream eyeliner, and it will stay in place all day. I use a dot of Luscious Studio Secret Concealer on my lids, it is excellent as an eye primer.
I have deliberately kept the palette as sleek and small as possible so it can easily be stored and carried with you on the go. Don't be fooled by it's size though, each eyeliner shade can be applied up to 200 times. That means you will get up to 1400 applications out of each Glamoreyes palette!

Summer Survival Tips

Hi girls! Thank you all for your lovely emails and swatches. Do send in your comments to my blog posts so I can publish them and also let me know if you want me to do step-by step tutorials for a particular look.
It's extremely hot here these days and I want to share my Summer Survival Tips with all of you to keep you fresh and stylish during the long summer.

Exfoliate once a week with an inexpensive homemade oatmeal and honey mask. This will deep clean your skin and help remove build-up of dead skin gently without irritating your skin. To make the this simple mask, follow the directions below:

1/3 cup of oats/oatmeal (daliya)
1/4 cup of honey
Half cup of water
Mix the water and the oatmeal together, and cook for a few minutes. Then, set it aside to cool and thicken. As it is cooling, mix in the ¼ cup of honey. Once the mask is well mixed and cool, apply an even layer to the skin, taking care to avoid the eye area. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse off in gentle rubbing motions with lukewarm water.

Drink Lots of Water: Increasing your intake of water has hundreds of health benefits, and from a beauty point of you, there is nothing more effective at hydrating your skin and eliminating toxins.

Pressed Powder for A Matte Complexion: Use Luscious Pressed Powder in your preferred shade to even out your complexion and have fresh oil-free skin all day. A good concealer should provide full coverage of dark under eye circles and blemishes/dark spots on your face, as well as brighten the areas on which it is applied. The problem with concealer formulas developed for Western skin tones is that they do not provide enough coverage, making the areas we are trying to conceal appear even more prominent. They are often pink-based and not opaque enough to cover dark areas that South Asian skin tones tend to have. It took me two years to perfect the formula for Luscious Studio Secret Concealer, and I named it “studio secret” because it provides the polished airbrushed results that you can expect from professional makeup artists. It blends beautifully and makes under eye circles and dark spots/blemishes virtually disappear. It has become an instant favorite among celebrities and Luscious fans alike.

This product comes in 3 shades. Below is my guide to selecting the right one.

Light Beige: Very fair to fair skin (if you use Luscious Foundation in Ivory or Natural shade)

I would like to send out a special "Thank you!" to all the Luscious fans who made it to our Live Beauty Event in Lahore. It was loads of fun and I'm so glad I got to meet so many of you. The most popular (and crowded!) part of the event was our Foundation Station, where I personally matched the right shades of liquid foundation, concealer and face powder for a lot of girls. Over the course of two days, my team and I gave customized foundation matching advice to over 2200 happy ladies! This gave me an amazing opportunity to interact with a lot of Luscious customers and listen to their issues and questions about achieving an even, polished complexion. I learned a lot about their concerns regarding dark circles, acne scars and sun damage.
Since the event, I have received hundreds of emails from those of you who are not located in Lahore and could not visit our Foundation Station, requesting me to post guidelines for selecting the correct shades of Luscious face products. Luscious Flawless Finish Liquid Foundation

The reason Luscious liquid foundation has become a bestseller, and the most popular foundation in stores nationwide, is that it has been created specifically for our own skin tones and climate. The formula stays put after application for a perfectly matte finish, controls oiliness and lasts for up to 14 hours.
A special note: All Luscious foundations are formulated to brighten your skin, and none of the shades will make you appear unnaturally dark or tanned. After many weeks of planning and preps I'm finally ready to share the exciting news with all my Luscious girls....the Luscious Live Beauty Event is all set to be held on the 7th and 8th of April at Qasr-e-Noor (Main Boulevard) in Lahore! As many of you must already know, we held a live beauty event at the Forum Mall in Karachi last year, and it was the first event of its kind in Pakistan. It was tremendously successful and was appreciated by everyone who came for two days of free makeup trials, makeovers and personal beauty consultations. Moreover, I got to interact personally with all Luscious fans, answer their beauty-related questions and listen to their feedback. I enjoyed myself thoroughly!
I came up with the idea of a live beauty event simply because I want to put the fun back into makeup. For two whole days, you can come and try all Luscious products absolutely free! Kareena's Look in Kurbaan

I have recently received hundreds of requests asking me to do a tutorial on Kareena Kapoor's look in the film Kurbaan. Apart from the fact that I like to respond to requests as much as my busy schedule allows me to, I had noticed the striking look that Kareena was sporting in this movie myself, so I'm glad to oblige.

Before I begin though, I'd like to give you a few tips about carrying this look properly (considering most of us aren't Kareena Kapoor)!
-This is a very clean and minimal look with all the emphasis on the eyes. With intense eye-makeup, skin imperfections tend to get magnified so make sure you wear this look with a well-finished complexion.
-Apply your liquid foundation, set it with a very light dusting of face powder, and, most important, use concealer on your under-eye area! In this shot, you can actually see the bags under her eyes (and a zit or two) due to the intensity of her eye makeup . There is no room for an uneven complexion with this look.

Now let's get to the fun part. You will need these products for the eyes:
1. Black Eye Pencil (Luscious Cream Liner eye pencil in "Onyx")
2. Dark Charcoal Grey (not black) eyeshadow ("Thunder")
3. Mascara (Incredible Lash Mascara)
4. A Smudge Brush or Q-tip (you can use a wet Q-tip to correct any mistakes also)
5. A stiff Eyeliner Brush
STEP 1: Using the black eye pencil, line your upper lash line staying as close to the lashes as possible. Gently work the eye liner into your lashes by going over the lash line with the pencil a few times to create a thin, but dense line. The line should be a little thicker towards the outer corner of your eye.
STEP 2: With a smudge brush or a q-tip, soften the edges of the eye pencil line. Use the brush to smudge the liner slightly upwards and towards the outer corner of your eye. Don't worry, it doesn't have to be very neat, you need to create a slightly soft effect.
STEP 3:Apply dark charcoal eyeshadow using a stiff eyeliner brush over the penciled line.This will soften and set the eyeliner.

Finish with a slight upwards flick (see picture on the right).
tip: Be sure to lightly tap the brush after you have dipped it in the eyeshadow to avoid excess powder from falling underneath your eyes (If it does happen, you can clean it with a q-tip dipped in water or makeup remover).
STEP 4: Line your lower lash line starting with the inner corner of your eye with the same dark charcoal eyeshadow staying as close to your lash line as possible. End this line at the outer corner of your eye. Do not flick it outwards.
STEP 5: Use the black eye pencil to line the inner rims of your eyes (like kajal). This step is optional. Although Kareena lines her inner eye most of the time, this can make your eyes look small. You can follow this step for the full effect, but if you don't, a few coats of mascara will really do the trick.

Why do we need Sun Protection?

This product has taken two long years to develop. Reason? I wanted something that melts into your skin without just "sitting on it", covers under-eye circles and marks on our skin tones to a high degree, brightens the areas on which it is applied, contains no skin irritants....in other words...I wanted the impossible! Finally we perfected the formula and the secret is out :) This concealer is the product you need whether you want to look well-rested and gorgeous on a tired morning, cover that zit/spot that appeared overnight before a wedding or special occasion, or generally even-out your skin tone without looking like you're wearing too much makeup.I have one in my handbag, one in the desk drawer at my office, and one on my dressing table.

About the Formula

I have added extra pigment to this concealer for maximum coverage without thickening the liquid itself. This means that it will cover dark areas on the face with a very small amount of the liquid instead of being layered on and sitting visibly on your skin's surface. Skin tones from our region tend to have much more pigment than Western skin tones, so our dark spots and under-eye circles are pretty dark even if we have fair complexions. That is why we need higher coverage. Unless you have very oily skin, you won't need powder to set your concealer as the staying power of this product is very high.

Tips

Luscious Studio Secret concealer comes in a convenient brush pen. You need to twist the base of the pen to release the liquid onto the brush. Be careful when you're twisting as you don't want to get too much liquid out at once.

How to Apply

If you want to even out your skin tone and create a polished complexion without liquid foundation:

- Make tiny dots of concealer on your under-eye area, the corners of your nose and any other dark spots you have. The concealer should be dotted right on top of the areas you want to cover only. Don't let it spread too much out of the target areas.

-With your ring finger (the one before your pinky finger) gently blend the concealer in a patting motion. Do not rub, as the under-eye area is very delicate.

-For the remaining areas of your face you can use the same patting motion with your finger for the perfect air-brushed finish.

If you want the perfect magazine-cover complexion with liquid foundation (I recommend this for evenings):

- This product is meant to be used after you have applied and blended your foundation.

- Don't apply foundation to your under-eye area. Use the concealer only.

- To cover any areas that still appear uneven after you've applied your foundation, follow the steps above.

-Follow with a light dusting of face powder to set the concealer if your skin is oily.

Spring 2010 Diamond Finish Nail Lacquer

I'm very excited about the Spring 2010 nail polish collection. The international color trend for Spring/Summer is ranging from light pastel ice-cream shades to orangey bright reds and corals.
The Luscious range includes a delicious range of pinks, reds and corals, as well as some of the hottest new shades straight off the Spring/Summer catwalks. One of my favorites is a dreamy creamy lilac shade I've named Purple Rain which was seen at the Dior Spring 2010 show.
Another surprise hit is the light shimmering gray shade (Luscious "Heavy Metal") which has been adopted as the color by a number of fashion houses, including Chanel, this season. The trick is to apply a maximum of two coats so the effect remains sheer and shimmering. Hi all! I've been watching the activity on the Luscious fan page on Facebook with great pride and having lots of fun reading all the interactions and comments. I've been wanting to start my blog for a long time so I can interact with all of you personally,answer your questions, tell you about all the delicious new products I'm working on and, most of all, to thank all of you for being so fabulous! So here it is...

As you know, I created the Luscious Cosmetics range so that all of us can have fun with luxury quality makeup without the high price tag. All the products that I create are first and foremost for myself (you won't find a bigger makeup collector than me!) so you can be assured that they will be of the very best quality. I have a very strict policy against animal testing and we don't use animal ingredients in any of our products. Instead, whenever a sample for a new product that I'm developing arrives from the US, I call some of my friends over and we experiment with it to see if it's absolutely perfect. In other words, I don't have a strict policy against testing on my friends :)
